Designer John Whitledge of Trovata announces a new knitwear collection, Birds of Paradis by Trovata, celebrating Whitledge’s greatest passion; a dedication to continually exploring faraway lands and translating the rich tapestry of these varied adventures into his design vernacular.

A mix of classic silhouettes and timeless pieces in bright, colorblocked tonals make up much of the autumn/winter line, while stripes continue to be a signature Trovata theme. Tweed yarns of 100% lamb and merino wool are given a special wash, for an extra soft and lofty hand.

Whitledge’s journeys across the world are now coming to fruition with Birds of Paradis. Each season, Whitledge will explore a new destination and culture, and will translate his journey into a range of knitwear. “Knitwear is a category that I strongly relate to – it gives a sense of security, a sense of time, place and memory. Knitwear to me represents family and is one of the few items of clothing that can be handed down from generation to generation,” states Whitledge.

A caravan is a group of people traveling together, often on a trade expedition. Caravans were used mainly in desert areas and throughout the Silk Road, where traveling in groups aided in defense against bandits as well as helped to improve economies of scale in trade.

Caravana Montaecristo comes from 15 years of travels, experiences, materials, souvenirs and Mexico was the place where we gathered all the pieces. We, Jack and Francesca, have been friends since 15 years now and Caravana Montaecristo is the summary of all our stories, colors, products, travels, markets and fabrics etc . It is our own vision of travels, lifestyle, and style. Though it is not only our vision but also our real way of living.

The pieces of Caravana Montaecristo in this current collection as well as the following ones come from our travels. From an old piece of leather found in the markets of Puebla or an old piece of fabric from Laos that we found during our trails. Caravana Montaecristo is born from people we talked to, from fabrics we bought. This is why we don´t know the direction, it will depend on our lives: they will drive us to the new collections.

Etoile is the second line designed by Isabel Marant. It is defined by the paradox of proposing wardrobe that is not only accessible but very much of the moment. The collection is a collage of sportswear classics inspired by work wear or military garments, combined with more feminine pieces and knitwear.

Etoile also combines comfortable active sportswear elements which are meant to be worn alone or mixed with a dash of attitude to chic-er, more dressed-up pieces.

What makes this collection stand apart is the attention paid to textiles and texture : fabrics are washed and aged with boiled and wrinkled effects, faded, half-tone colors set off by bright highlights, seams are left raw and hems slightly frayed.

Etoile offers clothes that are personal and strong but easy to wear.

Jose Marco of ISHVARA started in the leather world in Ibiza in the mid 1970’s. He was fascinated by the island and the artisans of skin, hippies and bohemians from all over the world, including the American hippies whom protested the Vietnam War. It was from this era that Jose crafted his particular style, shaping everything from skin treatment, pattern making, inking, development, the braiding of leather and much more. He was only 17 years old then, but it became his way of life.

In 1978 Jose was invited to participate in the fashion designers catwalk event of Ibiza showcasing shoes, accessories, and clothing. As he began creating new styles he had to change the type of skin he used, streamlining the styles and models. But in essence, his products retained the spirit of his beginnings – they simply never went out of style.

Exposure to the most beautiful and best quality skins provide Jose the inspiration that ensures his designs are always evolving. It’s this unending dedication to quality and beauty that have led to Ishvara being featured in some of Europe’s top fashion magazines (such as Vogue Español) and have gained Jose a following throughout Europe and North America.
